About this Death Cafe
Welcome to Oak Cliff Death Cafe, a gathering where individuals of all backgrounds are invited to engage in open conversations about death and dying. This group is meant to foster a supportive environment where diverse perspectives are respected, and participants can freely express their thoughts, fears, questions, and experiences. Free event.
Curious? Let’s eat CAKE and talk about death! Coffee and tea also provided.
Many thanks to the Hampton-Illinois Branch of the Dallas Public Library for generously providing our inclusive meeting space.
About Lorrie and Tammy
Lorrie Grisnik Anderson is a death doula located in Dallas, Texas. Lorrie has worked in hospice for 12 years and during that time, she educated hundreds of volunteers and family members on death and dying. She believes that death education is relevant because it reduces the fear of death, helps people develop positive attitudes toward death and dying, and allows people to view death as a natural transition at the end of life. Lorrie is a graduate of West Virginia University, a member of Death Doula Network International (DDNI)National End-Of-Life Doula Alliance (NEDA), and is a Willow EOL Educator®.
Tammy McNary is an artist and a death doula in Dallas, Texas. For two decades, she worked as a teaching artist in public elementary schools guiding children to take ownership of their creative expression. Tammy also works locally with a nonprofit hospice.
