6.00pm - arrive, register and order refreshments & join any table.

7.00pm – Event begins with a brief introduction and background of Death Cafe; the intention, and  process. The facilitator at each table creates a relaxed easy space supporting inclusive free flowing conversation. Everyone is invited to speak and share if they choose , which is optional. Conversation at past events has included stories and experiences around dying & death, caring for dying loved ones, quality of life whilst dying, funerals, green burials, care planning to enable quality of life whilst dying.  We have learned that accepting the finiteness of our human lives enables  more enjoyment of life.

About Leanne Skipsey

My passion is in contributing to a cultural shift where people feel more at ease considering and speaking about dying and death. I draw on over 25 years experience in senior management in public and population health sectors, including mentoring programs for family care givers & awareness raising projects such as ‘The Last Taboo project – talking about dying and death’ funded by the Eastern Metropolitan Region Palliative Care Consortium. As an experienced facilitator & trainer of Mindfulness and Self Compassion I also bring these qualities to this work
