About this Death Cafe

West London Death cafe has been running on a quarterly basis for five years.  We are open to all over 18, although if you are still grieving deeply, it might be more useful for you to get 1-1 help, as this is not a counselling service.  You will be expected to listen to and discuss others' thoughts as well as your own.  People might get emotional, so you need to be able to witness tears and distress with sympathy and acceptance.

We sit around  small tables, in groups of around 6 with a facilitator who is responsible for starting off the discussion and making sure everyone is treated fairly and respectfully.

There is no set agenda, the discussion will be of whatever the guests bring to the meeting.

There is no restriction on the discussion except that it must remain respectful and kind.  We have no theory or principles to promote except that good communication is helpful.

We are a group of people who hope to make it easier for our guests to talk about their thoughts, feelings and questioins about death, in order to reduce anxiety and allow them to plan for the future, enjoy peace of mind and live life to the full for as long as they can.
