About this Death Cafe

Thanks to our Community Action Grant, we can offer this Death Cafe to Bridlington.

The benefits of talking about and preparing for death can be immensely liberating, for some people.

For others, exploring new vocabulary in a safe space, before having those conversations with loved ones can give more empowerment to those making choices about their death.

We will always bring tea and coffee, and cake or biscuits.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you, people of Bridlington.

You do not have to know you are close to death, all ages are very welcome.

 

About Gemma Towle and Lynda Kenny

Lynda Kenny is a retired palliative care nurse and vicar, who is now a celebrant and advocates for the benefits of talking about death.

Gemma Towle is a business management student, who is passionate about coaching and discussing death and dying.

We met on an End Of Life Doula UK course, where we were both training to become End Of Life Doula’s. This means we are trained to hold space for people who are dying and help them create it, as they hope for it to be. Be this in the advance planning stage, or being with them for their last breath.

Both of us recognised that palliative care decision-making only comes for most people, at the very end of life and that we could offer Bridlington a space to discuss death and dying, at any stage of their lives, allowing them to live fully.
