About this Death Cafe

As part of Redbridge Libraries 'Day of the Dead' festival, we invite you to our Death Cafe.

Pop along for a cup of tea, a slice of delicious cake and a chat about life, death and everything in between!

Our Library Death Cafe is a safe, confidential and supportive space to talk or just listen. It’s friendly, informative, and intimate.

Please note that this is a discussion group and not designed to be a counselling session. This session may not be suitable for you if you are recently bereaved or feeling vulnerable about the subject of death.

This Death Café is part of Redbridge Libraries Day of the Dead festival. This is a family friendly event aimed at all ages. There will be entertainment and activities throughout the day that support conversations about death and loss. They will also remind us to celebrate life! Details of the full programme are available on our website here.

Spaces are limited and it is advisable to book your place in advance via Eventbrite. If any spaces remain, these will be offered on a first-come, first serve basis on the day.

Refreshments will be available, and we welcome a minimum donation of £2.50 to help with costs. If you would like to attend the café but are facing financial hardship, please contact us and we will arrange for a space to be reserved for you.

About The Death Positive Library @Redbridge Libraries

This cafe is hosted by Redbridge Libraries - the first Death Positive library service in the UK. We use our libraries as safe, trusted and unbiased spaces to offer a range of projects, events and resources which help break down taboos about talking about death, dying and grief.

The session is offered in partnership with Bless Funerals and will be facilitated by Hasina Zaman, it's founder and CEO.

Hasina’s focus is to lead funerals that are infused with compassionate care and making sure bereaved families and friends are sensitively care for and that a loved one’s contribution and characteristics are truly reflected throughout the funeral experience.
