HOW DO PEOPLE MAKE SENSE OF THEIR MORTALITY?

HOW DO PEOPLE MAKE SENSE OF THEIR MORTALITY?

People's experience of their mortality shows that there are multiple ways how we are living with and towards death.

We are hoping to explore this in our research in Counselling Psychology. At this stage we are looking for people to complete our anonymous online survey. We would be grateful for your help.

Thank you!

We know that we will all have to face it one day, but we put that “difficult” conversation off until tomorrow. Or the day after… Well it doesn’t have to be that way.

The people we talk to on this podcast are people who do talk about it. They’re people who have learnt through personal experience how important it is to talk about our wishes before it’s too late, and they have a lot to say.

Whether you’ve been bereaved, have a family member who’s approaching the end of life, want to support a friend, or just want to know how to start the conversation for yourself, this podcast is for you.

Unio is a service where you can securely store the documents your family would need to access in case of your death: will, house documents, where your funds are, insurances, etc.

dignity is hard work

dignity is hard work

About 20 years I found myself following my careerpath after seeing how my own mom dealt with the death of her mom and wondering if we all grieve the same in some fundamental way as human beings.

I began by asking what people themselves said about how they prepared for death and dying. In one place where I spent a lot of time visiting (over 10 years), a small kingdom in Africa called Swaziland (eSwatini) affected by AIDS, I learned it there, to them, it was about dignity.

Dignity is a funny word. It usually means being respectably treated to American listeners. To the people I met there ...

I'm nearly 40 so old by other peoples measures but my dad is dying. He has had a brain tumor for 2 years and now he is lying in a death bed. He will not recover. He will never speak to me again. He will die soon. I mean in the next week. And I feel weak. I'll miss Him xx

Look for Me in the Stars

Look for Me in the Stars

Hi!

I've created a 40 day online program for death, grief and loss. The program consists of daily yoga + meditation practices, creative exercises, art, poetry and music. I lost my Mother when I was a teenager and then my Father about five years ago (when I was 31).

This is a passion project and I've launched a kickstarter to get it off the ground.

Love!

Send messages and gifts during and after death.

Send messages and gifts during and after death.

Leg8cy was created due to the uncertainty of life.  You can send messages and gifts dated in the future that will be sent after your death.  This website was created because my brother in law passed away at a young age due to cancer.  He left behind a 6 year old daughter and I think he would have loved to leave her some messages.  Can you imagine if her dad left her a message for every birthday, how important that would be to her.  Leg8cy offers a free messaging service.

Night Swallowtails

Night Swallowtails

A lovely collection of poems by Andrena Yeats ( a freind of mine). As the press realse from Macmillan says:

"When I first met Andrena she was dealing with her grief in a positive and creative way by composing a series of poems. I was struck by how honest they were, and how they progressed in stages through all aspects of human emotion.

Her vision is that her collection, Night Swallowtails, and the process of its creation will resonate with others going through similar circumstances and help them as it has her.

We are deeply grateful to Andrena for choosing us as one of the charities to benefit from ...
