About this Death Cafe

We live knowing that everything dies. Like the sun, it's a fact of life. And like the sun, we tend not to look right at it. Right now in Australia, most people choose not to have conversations about dying – even though we will all go through it.

We want to create an environment where talking about death is natural and comfortable. Our Death Café is a confidential space where you can talk about death and dying without worrying about being preached to or sold anything. Competition and debate are set aside as we open up the table to discuss the un-discussable. Everyone gets a say.

Death Cafés are going on in countries right across the world. These sessions are not grief support groups or end-of-life planning sessions, but rather casual forums for people who want to bat around personal thoughts. What is death like? Why do we fear it? How do our views of death affect the way we live?

Studies show that for most people, such conversations are healthy; talking about death can ease people’s fears and the notion that death is taboo. Come and join us for a cuppa, some cake and the most fascinating conversation of your year. Donations welcome.
This is a small group event, so seats are limited. Book early to avoid disappointment.
