About ColumbiacountydeathcafeNY@gmail.com

As a certified Death Midwife; Home-Funeral Guide, experienced Funeral Celebrant, and trained Mortician (NY State), your facilitator is dedicated to creating a safe space to share in thought-provoking dialogue, and to provide resources to discuss the topic of death and dying.

“I have a strong desire to be present for my fellow human beings in their times of need. Death is the most challenging process, and I aspire to contribute my spirit of support to walking through that journey with my fellow sentient beings. Therefore, I seek to cultivate a community of people who feel similarly un-intimidated by the topic of death and dying itself.

It is challenging to discuss our impermanence with the ones we love, but it is my opinion that our thoughts need to be spoken and explored.  It is also a gift to hear what other people have to share and through this dialogue, one might accomplish a way to navigate the topic and confront the conversation with our own self; my [our] life, my [our] dying and my [our] death.”  JoAnna
