About Heart & Soul Funerals

Jane Morrell and Simon Smith

Jane trained in funeral celebrancy, in ritual and in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy.

She founded Heart & Soul Funerals in 1999 and it has since grown from providing just local funeral director services to also becoming a national provider of funeral sector training courses.

Simon feels that working with bereaved families, and the dying, is the most fulfilling and inspiring work he can do and he is committed to helping make the experience of the death, the funeral and grief in some way life affirming.

He has a Foundation Degree in Funeral Services from Bath University, the highest funeral sector qualification and is an Accredited Member of the Society of Bereavement Practitioners. He has also trained in psychotherapy.

Jane is married to Simon, and together they train funeral celebrants and funeral arrangers across the UK and are also authors of the book ‘We Need To Talk About The Funeral - 101 Practical Ways To Commemorate And Celebrate A Life’, a guide based on their work with families.
