About this Death Cafe
Hospice SLO hosts the first Death Café in San Luis Obispo, joining groups from all over the world who are holding casual, informative and inspiring gatherings to talk openly about death and dying. Death Cafes have been held in London, Vancouver, New York City, Los Angeles, New Zealand, Calgary and now – San Luis Obispo.
Are you curious about the topic? Do you want to open the discussion with family or friends but don’t know how? Are you dealing with end-of-life issues in an immediate way? Are you planning for your own future?
Death Café offers an open, respectful and confidential space free of discrimination where people can express and explore their understanding of death with others. You are welcome to join us.
Death Cafés provide a relaxed, non-judgmental, group discussion about any number of topics related to the inevitability of death. There is no intention of leading participants to any particular conclusion, product, or course of action. Refreshments will be served. Our Participants often leave a Death Café feeling as if they have learned more about life than about death.
